At the dock, Jordon, Mitch, Mason, Ali, Trisha, and Me, all plopped overstuffed backpacks on the pier.
"Whew!" Said Jordon, mostly to Ali. The two had been talking a lot since we left the firecrackers store and now Mason rotated his index finger around his temple, international sign language for 'they're crazy'.
Me, Trisha, and Mitch all laughed, but I think Trisha was more amused by this than anyone. Ali and Jordon barely looked up. Jordon was pointing to something in his mathbook, and Ali had pulled out a purple spiral bound notebook, and was pointing to numbers. M
My eyes widened and I glanced at Trisha and Mitch with a question in my eyes.
"Math geek" they both said.
I rolled my eyes and knelt, digging out a notebook of my own.
"Not you too!" Mitch groaned, hitting his forehead in mock agony.
"No, you idiot!" I hissed. "I'm working on my short story."
"Oh! What's it about?"
"Maybe it's about you, wise guy!"
"Oh."
Trisha laughed at Mitch's crestfallen expression.
"She does that all the time."
"Does what?"
"Calls people wise guy .. or girl! She obviously calls me wise girl" Said Trisha with a mildly amused expression.
"Oh"
"Would you stop saying that?" I hissed.
"Saying what?"
"Saying 'oh'!!"
"Oh!"
"STOP!!" I almost shouted.
"Well Sorry!" said Mitch, shrugging his shoulders and holding up his hands, palms flat, to me, as if proving he didn't have a weapon.
He turned to Trisha. "Eru, why does she hate me so much?"
My head snapped up. Did he just say Eru? I was absolutely the only person who read tolkien's works THAT much.. Apparently not. I kept listening, pretending to be only working on my short story.
(there's about half a chapter left, it's all in my head .. I'll get it up here next time I can squeeze on here)
