Same Old Sky | Chapter Thirteen

(I'm going to try to finish the book today!)

But even though I thought so, It wasn't very long.

And all too soon I was going back to Etheridge Academy for the rest of the year.

Or the rest of the moon.

I put my things back in the bag, but this time instead of taking the bus my dad drove me up to Etheridge. We hardly said ten words.. We're not very talkative people.

So, also too soon, I was back at Etheridge and unloading my stuff and waving to Trisha and Ali and Mitch..

Dad left and normal things began. We had half an hour to get our stuff together and go to the classrooms for the day.

I was done first and made a list of reasons I should and shouldn't go to the elves.

Yes List :

It was a once in a lifetime chance
Immortality is an option you aren't given every day
I was an elf ; I belonged with the elves
I wouldn't be alone ; I'd be surrounded by people like myself.. Maybe even Yasmine

No List :

Trisha, Ali, Jordon, And Mason wouldn't be coming.
My family wouldn't be coming
My dog wouldn't be coming
I would be alone

And then it was time for classes.

Math, Science, English, History, Social Studies, Home Ec. (blech) and then finally Creative Writing, where my assignment was read aloud.

Of course, Alison was totally ticked that she wasn't at the top of the class, and Trisha was excited, but I didn't have my heart in it. I knew I could do better.

I was just so distracted! I mean, wouldn't you be?

Then Lunch. Everything was going extremely fast. The world just wasn't real to me.

I was thinking about Yasmine, and the Elves, and Mitch, or Ithank as the voice had called him and wondering if I had another name and, unfortunately, about Dallino. And Trisha, and why did she act so afraid about that name?

I was sitting down after being steered to a table by Trisha, who was being pretty nice about it all and followed by Ali and a few other girls, and then I suddenly snapped out of my distracted trance-like state as a too-familiar voice invaded my mind..

"So, Samantha Caroline, your paper was read aloud," said Alison, plopping down at our table.
